Dream of chokecherries

Some creatures near here
Never seem to get the word
Wooly worms in snow

Tomatoes as fruit
Somehow the color is not
Adequate as proof

Sycamores in snow
Vertical snakeskins looming
Against bluebird sky

A dark sphagnum trap
Filled with living jewels
Dark Silver Lead Creek

Angels dance on heads
of pins who cares or even
counts such silly things

Black dog circles round
The wind-driven white snowfields
Wanting privacy.

Night is for resting
Try catching brook trout with flies
After dark arrives.

Superior screams
Praising Mother Nature’s way
Or opposing it?

Misleadingly named
Shame on you Mother Nature
For sugar plums
