She was shot because she got too close to a 79-year-old hunter's deer bait. The COs trailed her blood from the kill site to where she was hit. Evidence showed the shooter had hurriedly packed up a portable blind and moved, but by canvassing the woods the officers found the man about a mile away and got a confession.
