Maple Gold. Tawas County. 2006, 24 x 18 inches, acrylic on canvas. I spent five days in the Tawas area in 2006 riding with officers, mostly chasing salmon snaggers and shiners at night. The DNR has a small satellite office in the Tawas Point State Park and one morning during a sleet storm CO Beck Forton and I stopped at the office so she could file some paperwork. I stayed outside, looked at the maple bark turned black by sleet agains the flaming yellow leaves and grabbed for my camera.
