Better my sisters in whorehouses
Than my brothers be politicians
The girls swapping sex for cash with louses
While solons innovate new ways to sin.

We watch cable news rolling round the clock
Grave and silly rendered equally
Given such inversions we can’t take stock
All truth buried like sailors dead at sea.

Our troops die daily in Afghanistan
While people here carry on deaf and dumb
Troops want to fight enemies man-to-man
And politicians just suck their thumbs.

How can we in this democracy
Rationalize all the shit we see?
