The Good Guy
[Portage, January 24, 2011]

The Good Guy’s gone, heart-bombed stone dead,
Went quick, left his widow with those eyes
Of the guy next to where a mortar
Round popped, erasing a good man,
Everybody’s pal, hail fellow,
Well met, who told the wife he wouldn’t
Support no third child, watched her fly
East alone for problem-removal,
His words, Good guy who insisted she,
Get her tubes tied, son thereafter
Dropped her at the hospital, went
To work, planning guitar wood, Good Guy
Always with a joke, who made her ride
In the far back, only hoors dye hair
Blond, Good Guy who ate supper alone
In his workshop, on a TV tray,
Everything done for the Good Guy,
People say you must miss him so bad
He was bigger than life, always on,
She thinks, Eater of Life who ate mine.
